GRID STEP. You can print out the base construction lines and start drawing on tracing paper, or you can draw the grid layout yourself using the following steps.1) Draw a rectangle that will define the conditional proportions and boundaries of the chosen drawing. 2) From the middle of the rectangle, draw one vertical and one horizontal line equally dividing the shape. 3) Draw another horizontal line equally dividing the upper half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a horizontal line equally dividing the bottom half of the rectangle. 4) Draw a vertical line equally dividing the left half of the rectangle. Similarly, draw a vertical line equally dividing the right half of the rectangle.

STEP 1. Mark off the width and height of the picture. Draw an oval for the basic shape of the cat’s head and draw a line which will act as its center.

STEP 2. Draw an oval for the body and a line through the center of the tummy.

STEP 3. Draw guidelines for legs, eyes and a nose.

STEP 4. Outline the shapes of the forelegs, feet and ears of the anime cat.

STEP 5. Draw the lower parts of the forefeet, feet and a tail.

STEP 6. Add more lines to show the face and ears. Draw basic guidelines for the eyes and mouth of the anime cat.

STEP 7. Include lines to show the nose and whiskers. Work further on the shape, making the picture more detailed.

STEP 8. Contour, trying to vary the thickness and pressure of the line. Draw more details and some grass and erase all guidelines.
